FOOTHILL FELINES PIPSQUEAK!!

Clouded F3 Savannah Male Kitten!

"Pipsqueak" is an awesome clouded Savannah kitten, born October 11, 2004 to our Savannah queen SelectExotics Sunny Spots of Foothill Felines, and our SBT silver spotted Bengal male, Spothaven Malamute of Foothill Felines. We wanted this kitten to be a female so badly!!!!!! This kitten has it all - gorgeous serval shaped head and profile; nice large ears well set; elegant long body-type and long legs; an incredible wild clouded pattern unlike any domestic marbled patterned cat -- and a lovely, affectionate and playful disposition. Ed Kerr in San Francisco, CA came to our rescue once we had to admit that this kitten was actually a little male and immediately snatched this boy up and took him home!! Home to his 6 other cats and roommate, we might add -- roommate Michael, and Bengals Foothill Felines Mobi, Foothill Felines Midas, Foothill Felines Macy, Beastie Boy (one of the first 500 registered Bengals); Serengeti Ajax, and blue Abysinnian Dweezil. We knew we'd get lots of photos and updates from Ed so we could hear all about his always exciting multi-cat household, and he has indeed been wonderful about that. After just a few days, we had our first update: "Holly... He's an absolute joy! Independent, not needy but still very affectionate. And guess which cat is having the least amount of trouble accepting him.... AJAX!!!! I can't believe it. Midas is really bent out of shape, though. Three of the adult cats got sick the day he came home (vomiting, no appetite, but no real signs of being sick except for being lower energy than normal). So I'm on pins and needles making watching him for the first signs of anything. So far, he's fine. He just doesn't eat much..... He plays non-stop (literally) and I have to periodically take him over to the food bowls and stand there with him until he eats. He won't touch the canned Sensible Choice even if I heat it up a tiny bit to increase the aroma. I finally got him to eat a some Science diet A/D and some Gerber's Chicken baby food."

"He's very good about sleeping all night... He goes off by himself to the top of the cat tree and sleeps alone until dawn, doesn't prowl around at night (yet... Knock on wood). I've studied his coloring under the halogen lights and he's definitely got a lot of silver in him.... At times some of his pattern color reminds me of a seal mink... He's got a lot going on, I'd really have a hard time deciding if he is a brown or silver, but since he has some definite silver in his pattern, that's probably what he is."

And, several weeks later, Ed sent us some gorgeous photos of the little guy, with more news. "He is just fine. Such a happy, independent yet affectionate little guy. The other cats seem to be over whatever it was they had and are now starting to return to normal as their appetites pick up. Pipsqueak mauls Dweezil now for play. Dweezil is such a good sport about it. The kid and Mobi also play together... Mobi's still a bit wary, but I've caught him in play "boxing matches" with Pipsqueak and they wrestle (although Mobi is a bit more rough than Dweezil and Pipsqueak sometimes ends up howling a bit). I even caught Macy cleaning him the other day (although if he tries to play with her she gets scared and runs... however, she is fascinated by his playing with paper-wads, which are her favorite toy, and follows him around when he plays with them.... I know she wants to join in but is still a bit leery). Beastie gets along well with him and Ajax is still totally fine with him being around. Midas is still bent out of shape about him, but I even see signs of this calming down (Midas really doesn't care much for any of the other cats except Dweezil anyway). Pipsqueak's latest thing is stealing the rubber and wire mesh drain plugs from the bathtub and carrying them to various spots throughout the house to kill and play with. I'm totally thrilled with him. Michael likes him a lot too (although he won't admit it to me.... But the other day he told me he sleeps on his lap while Michael is at the computer in the living room, so....)."

About a week later, Ed continued updating us with Pipsqueak's progress: "I'm attaching a few pictures of Pipsqueak that I took tonight. As you can see from the one of him and Mobi on the kitchen floor, he's getting quite big (not heavy, just long and large).... Mobi is not a small cat and Pipsqueak certainly isn't dwarfed by him. It's hard to believe he's just 3 months old tomorrow. I have to keep reminding myself when he does things that only little kittens do that he is that young. Plus he's such a mature acting kitten that I really do forget he's as young as he is. As you can see, he and Mobi have now taken up wrestling (as he has with Dweezil also). Tonight he jumped on Macy; she freaked and ran to the bedroom, but a few minutes later I saw her crouched looking under the bed with her butt and back legs doing the rev-up wiggle. She went running after Pipsqueak and chased him from under the bed and down the hall. When she was done she definitely had the look of "boy, that was FUN!" on her face. She so desperately wants to play with him, but she's so gun-shy from dealing with Ajax. Ajax won't let Pipsqueak play with him, but he will still let him next to him; doesn't in the least seem bothered by him. Midas still whines when the kitten gets too close, but he's nowhere near as afraid of the kitten as he was a week ago." Below are some of the wonderful pictures that Ed has sent us to-date of Pipsqueak.
