FOOTHILL FELINES BELLAMIA!!

Seal Lynxpoint Spotted Bengal Female with a velvet pelt, glitter, and a sweet personality!

Jeanette, LaVaughn and Sandy in northern California had already adopted Foothill Felines Kimbaku late in 2004. They soon decided he needed a little sister, and they were quite taken with the little cloudpuff kitten that they later named Bellamia. Foothill Felines Bellamia was a surprise kitten -- we did not know that her mother, Starbengal Vida Mia of Foothill Felines, could produce snow Bengal kittens. Bellamia's lovely spots will really begin to show up when she reaches around 6 months to 1 year of age. We heard from Jeanette shortly after Bellamia, who was a rather petite, small kitten, joined their family. I love hearing how their neutered male cats were surrogate mothers to little Bellamia, especially during her initial adjustment time!! "It has been a bumpy ride, but our little girl is doing fine now. She did not want to eat or drink at first, and we were starting to get a little worried about her. Finally, Sunday night, she decided that she could eat gruel (combination of wet food and KMR) from a bottle with the nipple cut almost off, and she wee-wee'd on LaVaughn (I thought it was pretty funny), so at least we knew the plumbing was all working okay. Monday morning she ate from the bowl and had at least one bowel movement, and Monday night she started nibbling on the dry food. So I think we are over the hump. She is also becoming much more active and interested in the toys and other cats. Everyone has been fine with her except Kimbaku - he has his nose out of joint over her completely, and hisses at her everytime he walks by! Our oldest cat, Bear, has been a big help settling her down, laying next to her and purring. Mario has been good about licking her and going over to lay next to the crate whenever she starts fussing and we can't pick her up immediately."

A couple of days later, more news from Jeanette: "Our little girl's name is Bellamia, and she is 1.8 lbs. I don't think Kimbaku was that small when he was born!!! (He got his last shot Monday, and weighed in at 5.8 lbs.) He has finally decided having someone in the house who is smaller than he is, is a good thing. They wrestle constantly, then fall asleep cuddled next to one another. He is also very good about going to get her for us if she is hiding under the chair or behind the entertainment center. When we tell him, go find Bellamia, he goes to wherever she is hiding and plays with her until she comes out.

"I'm home sick today, so have had lots of cuddles and loves to make me feel better. We'll send pictures soon of our little ones. In the meantime, we are watching the upcoming litters list closely and continuing to spread the word about these special cats and the terrific job you are doing!"
