These are honest-to-goodness real fishing "flies" that anglers use to catch trout, bass, salmon, tarpon, and other game fish in streams, rivers and seas all around the world. A "fly" is a type of bait used to entice fish to bite the hook. "Flies" are made to mimic a fish's normal food, which could be insects, small rodents, small fish, etc. "Fly" styles vary depending on the species of fish you are trying to catch, the time of year, the geographic location, specific body of water, etc. There are THOUSANDS of "fly" types or patterns used around the world!!
Each "fly" is individually hand-tied using exquisite natural and synthetic materials. The materials and craftsmanship are truly stunning. Remember that cats are first and foremost carnivores and, therefore, hunters. From a 6 lb. domestic house cat to a 500 lb. tiger, the love of the chase is a natural part of a cat's makeup. In this sense, cats are react much like game fish when they see the "flies"; their tails flick, their ears go up, their eyes get big and all their muscles become taut with excitement!!
High quality interactive toys are not a luxury for cats but are necessary to keep them mentally, physically and psychologically in top condition. All classes of Fly-Toys are especially good because they look and move so realistically, and are deeply satisfying to the hunter in your cat.
These are interactive toys and should only be brought out when you are playing with them. They come "alive" in your hands (and with your imagination) as you make them skitter, bounce, hop, run, scurry and sail across the floor, over the furniture, under the covers and around the corners. They can even plop in and out of water dishes, across lawns and up trees.
Some Class I's come on shorter lines with 12" acrylic rods; most do have the same 18" acrylic rods as the other classes. Class II's and III's come with longer lines and 18" acrylic rods. Their prices are based on the quantity and expense of the materials as well as the labor required to make them. The size specifications listed below are approximate and can vary (as can some of the materials and colors) at times. All Fly-Toys come packed with a header card that's full of play ideas. We even include instructions on how to re-tie your line if your cat should accidentally chew through it!PLEASE NOTE: We reserve the right to substitute a Fly Toy of equal or greater value if the Fly Toy you specify is not available.
