FOOTHILL FELINES SIR WALTER!!
Sir Walter, affectionately called "Walter" or "Wallie" by proud new papa Dave O. of Spokane, Washington, is a very handsome, sweet, curious and lucky Bengal boy!! He was born on 9-26-2000, to Gogees Marshamelo of Foothill Felines, and AlmaDen Ali Baba. Dave flew down from Spokane to see our cattery, and his first look at Walter was when Walter was barely 2 weeks old!! Then Dave flew back down to Sacramento again after the holidays and picked up Walter, so that they could fly back to Spokane together. Walter had changed just a bit since the first time Dave saw him, and of course is continuing to change and grow into the beautiful young adult male he is destined to be!! And, you should see Dave's face light up when he sees Walter or talks about him!!
Here are some wonderful update photos of Walter, totally at home now with Dave back in Spokane, after the first couple of weeks - "Hi, Holly: Here are some pictures of Walter at home. The kids are neighbors, and illustrate the size of Walter's "toy". My mother even sent Walter a care package (all the gifts)!! Walter's "toy", by the way, is a wonderful large playground and kitty paradise climbing gym that Dave designed and built himself!!"
A few months later, Dave updated us again: "Walter is doing really well. He had a rough week of it last week though. On the 6th, I had him fixed. He had to have his rabies shot, his micro chip implanted, and had to have 2 of his teeth pulled. The vet said his permanent
teeth were growing in and the baby teeth really needed to come out. He came home looking like a chipmunk on drugs! Within 2 days you would have never known that he had all that stuff done. He weighed in at 8 pounds. I think he is going through another growth spurt this week."
"Walter loves to take baths with me. I bought him a few rubber bath toys to play with. He is not scared of water at all. He is at the sink whenever the water is turned on. He has taken to my treadmill too! He likes to walk on the treadmill. Its lowest speed is 1 mph and he can handle that no problem. He occasionally forgets to walk and runs off the back but he jumps right back on. I bought him a harness and collar. I take him to work every couple of weeks. He is pretty popular there!"
Dave wrote again and sent us a wonderful photo of himself with Walter, on Walter's one year birthday. "Walter is doing well. I ran him down to the vet about 2 weeks ago to put him on the scale. He is now 13.2 lbs. I see him go
through growth spurts though so that can change quickly. I went to London this summer for 10 days and when I returned he was noticeably bigger! He is still very playful and has quite the attitude sometimes. Most of the time though he is a pretty good alarm clock. If I don't get up on time he lets me know it's time!!"
Then, in May 2003, we heard from Dave and Walter again. " This is Dave from Spokane. I wanted to let you know that I have moved. Walter adjusted really quickly to the move. I was worried about it for awhile but it only took him about 24 hours and he never looked back. My father and I pooled our resources and purchased a house in Spokane. I spent 2 months working on the house to get it ready to move into. Had to paint, do plumbing, new kitchen floor, and sanding the oak floors. Now that the weather is better I am turning my attention to the outdoors. I need to put on a new room, siding, and windows. It's a big job but we got a good deal and will earn big sweat equity. How is the cat business going these days. Don't forget I am still interested in info about your new cat breed. I am curious to learn how that is coming along for you. Possibly next year I might be interested in one. Hope all is well with you. My foreign exchange student will be going back to Germany in June. Walter will miss the extra attention. You enjoy the latest picture I sent you of Walter. He is 2.5 years old now and this photo was taken in the new house a few weeks ago. Hope to hear from you soon. Send me a photo of your Savannah kittens if you have had any yet."
