FOOTHILL FELINES RUMPLE TEAZER &
FOOTHILL FELINES RUM TUM TUGGER!!

Teazer at 4 weeks old!
Tugger at 4 weeks old!

Rumple Teazer and Rum Tum Tugger (littermate brother and sister to Foothill Felines Manzanita) went as a pair to live with the Fleischman family in Medina, Washington. We sent them at about 11 weeks old, and had confirmation they arrived safely and in good health. About 6 months later, we received this wonderful update letter and pictures from this terrific family!! " Hi Holly, I wanted to wish you a happy holiday and New Years and give you an update on our kittens that were born on 3-14-02 to Madison and Peyote. We named the girl, Rumple Teazer and the boy Rum Tum Tugger, 'Teazer' and 'Tugger' for short."

"THE PICKUP at the airport went very smoothly. I notified the attendant at the counter that kittens would be on the plane, so as soon as the plane landed they rushed out to meet the plane and immediately got the kittens off the plane to me. Tugger was sleeping, but Teazer was meowing very loudly. Once in the car, Teazer stopped meowing and settled in for the 30 minute car ride home."

"ONCE WE GOT HOME, we took their cage into their room and I unpacked their food and water and we just watched them get familiar with their new surroundings. Teazer was out of the cage as soon as the door was open and looked around. Tugger waited for about 5 minutes before coming out. They were eager to play, but interested in their new surroundings as well. Both kittens stayed in a few rooms for the first few weeks to get use to that part of the house, their litter box, and where the food and water were located."

"They both went for their FIRST VET VISIT to get their 3rd distemper shot; they eagerly ran into the cage to go to the vet. The day after their shot, Teazer become lethargic and was not interested in playing or eating. So we took her back into the vet right away. Of course, once we got to the vet, she perked back up and was jumping around in the vet's office. But she did have a fever. The vet thought that the fever was a reaction to the distemper shot, which is unusual, but possible so the vet gave her a shot and sent us on our way saying that there should be a rapid improvement in the next 24hrs. Teazer was back to normal the next day."

"Their next vet visit was at 5-6 months to be NEUTERED AND SPAYED. I had both cats in the kennel and when we entered the vet's office everyone in the waiting room turned because of the very loud meows coming from both of the cats. It was very impressive. Since the cats were going to be under I had identification tags implanted in their skin at the same time. Tugger was sent home the same day, but Teazer had to stay over night for an afternoon pickup. I got a call the next morning to tell me that Teazer is doing great and was very vocal and if I could pick her up that morning. I guess she was disturbing the other animals.... After a few days, I noticed that there was a lump developing on Teazer above the shoulder blade. I thought it could be the chip implant, but I wanted to be sure so we went back in to the vet so they could take a look. It was the same location as the chip and it was suppose to go down in a few days and it did."

"THE CATS ARE NOW 9 MONTHS OLD. Tugger looks very broad and has large frame, while Teazer looks rather petite. The cats are always together. They both are exceptional jumpers, especially Teazer who has no fear of attempting to jump from ledge to ledge. Both cats are very confident around people, other animals, vacuum cleaners, and kids. They sleep in our bed at night and take a nap in their cat tower during the day. The cats enjoy anything new coming into the house. Their newest adventure is the Christmas tree. They both climbed the tree and play for hours in its branches, until we moved the tree to a room that could be closed off. Both cats enjoy playing chase with the family. Anyone pretending to hide, they are out stocking them. They spend a lot of time running up and down our hallways. They unfortunately, love to walk and run on the top of the upstairs banister."

"Teazer has an incredibly soft coat. She has jet black rosettes that are gorgeous. She weighs 9 lbs now. She is very, very affectionate. Teazer enjoys water and doesn't mind getting her paws wet. Teazer loves to jump and sit on high places. She, unfortunately, is a good fisherman. She has gotten 5 of our fishes so far. A tank with a secure lid does not even detour her. Teazer enjoys sleeping right next to the fire whenever it is on."

"Tugger is tawnier in color and his markings are black, but not as striking as Teazer's markings. He's 11 lbs now and is growing very fast. Tugger is very affectionate, but on his terms. He is particular on who and when he is petted. Tugger loves any toy that has a feather on it. He opens his mouth and heavily breathes through his mouth and nose when he gets close to the feather. I've never seen a cat do this before. Once he gets the feather toy, he takes off running with it. Tugger also is known for stealing stuffed animals out of our kid's rooms at night. It's a sight to see him pulling a stuffed animal as large as he is down the stairs. Tugger also prowls around for people food and if we are not watching, he quickly will hop up on the table and grab some food and then run off."

"Below are a few pictures of both of the cats. The entire family has been delighted with the cats and is very happy to include them as part of our family. Getting two cats also was a very good decision as we have seen them play for hours together each day and night. Thanks again, Craig and Family."  Photos below, top to bottom, show: Teazer (top) and Tugger on their cat tower; Teazer, and Tugger.
