MARSHA'S UPDATES: PAGE TWO!

We can never begin to express our gratitude and appreciation to Marshamelo -- without her, we simply never would have developed Foothill Felines Bengals cattery. Not only did she produce our Foothill Felines Metallica, Foothill Felines Minnimelo, Foothill Felines Macqui, Foothill Felines Mochamelo, and on and on, but she was the inspiration to me as I began the daunting task of creating this website from scratch as a self-taught middle aged webmistress!! No wonder our web design business is named for Marsha!! She kept me company, kept me sane, and enjoyed every little effort as I put each tentative new thought up on the Internet for the first time. Marsha came to us from Gene Ducote at Gogees, and we can never thank Gene enough for letting us have her and love her for the first six years of her life. When it was time to retire Marshamelo, it was truly time to be as unselfish as possible for her sake, and to recognize that as long as we continued to breed Bengals here in our home, she would not get the room and attention for her precious self she so richly deserved with her retirement. So, we found her a wonderful home, with Greg and Emily in the Bay Area of northern California. Here are some pictures of Marsha and the first updates from this new family:

" Hi Holly, just got around to loading the pictures on the computer last night to send you an email this morning! sorry it's taken a few days, we know you must be anxious to hear about Marsha! She didn't seem to mind the trip home - slept under the blanket the whole way. She ran out of her carrier as soon as it was opened and started exploring her new home. She very quickly found the cat tree, recognized it as her home, and took up residence in the top box. That has become her "safety base" from which she emerges to do further exploring. She is still being rather shy and reserved around us, but is spending more and more time out of the tree, and is now comfortable inspecting the rest of the house with us around, instead of waiting until we're out of sight. It's funny, when she's out of the tree, she won't approach us or let us approach her for petting, but if she's laying out on a shelf on the tree, loves to be petted and rubbed, purring and rolling all over. We think she just needs to feel comfortable in her surroundings before she gets comfortable around the people. Six years is a long time for a cat to be used to one home, and then have to adjust to a new one! But you will be happy to know that she is eating - we found that the easiest way to coax her out of her tree is with a spoonful of wet cat food =) - and using her litterbox like the perfect lady she is. She isn't talking a whole lot yet, but always turns her head at her name if nothing else. Her eyes are just incredible, they say so much...right now the biggest message seems to be a suspicious, "who are you and what have you done with my family?" Hopefully it won't be too long before she starts to trust us, but for now we're being patient, and giving her all the love she'll accept! Here are a few pictures of Marshamelo exploring her new home, and I'll send a few more in a separate email (the files are kinda big). We'll give you another update in a few days, and hopefully will be able to tell you about her jumping up on the couch to curl up in our laps! -Greg, Emily, and Marsha"
