FOOTHILL FELINES MALARKI!!

When Kathleen and Carly K. first came to visit our home cattery, they were absolutely enchanted with our adorable Malarki, even though at the time, they were really hoping to adopt a young kitten. Since we are a small breeder, and wouldn't have any kittens for awhile, several months later when we decided to place Malarki as a Retired Breeder, we contacted this delightful family to see if they would be interested in taking Malarki home with them to Northern California. Kathleen talked it over with her husband Greg, and wrote us back immediately!!

"My husband says he definitely wants Malarki. He wanted me to make sure I told you today so you don't place her with anyone else. She will be well taken care of here and my husband can hardly wait to pick her up." (This was before Greg had even met Malarki!! But, he must have felt that this would be a wonderful thing for both himself and Malarki, as well as the rest of his family who already loved her!!) "We are so excited, and getting ready for her; buying supplies, husband's making a tree, getting nervous hoping she will be happy here. My husband Greg is medically retired so he is home and will be able to spend a lot of time with her. He is extremely good with all animals too so she will definitely get plenty of attention."

The all important day finally arrived, and our sweet Malarki left to go to her new home and life in the care of this wonderful family. Kathleen filled us in after the first few days with Malarki: "Hi Holly & Wes!! Well, Malarki finally ate and without any coaxing or Gerbers. She is taking quite well to the dog and is very interested in him yet still a little cautious. She is quite a busy body at bed time. She finally settled down after climbing in and out of the covers several times and nosing around. Greg finished her tree today and she loves it. He built in a hammock and she thinks it's great. When we first had her in the bathroom we put her bed in the extra sink and she would curl up and sleep there, now I think she might not want to give up her special little sleeping place. Lucky for Greg he doesn't really use it. We can't wait to let her start exploring the rest of the house. Just might be sooner than we thought."

Several months later, we received another wonderful update, this time from Greg. "HELLO HOLLY & WES, SORRY THAT I HAVEN'T WRITTEN YOU TILL NOW, BUT YOU KNOW BEEN BUSY. :) WANTED TO LET YOU BOTH KNOW THAT, MALARKI IS PART OF OUR FAMILY IN SUCH A BIG WAY -- I REALLY LOVE HER TO DEATH. I THINK SHE'S BONDED TO ME BECAUSE I'M HOME EVERYDAY. I'VE BEEN WORKING WITH HER WHAT SEEMS LIKE 14 HOURS A DAY. SHE'S REALLY GOT VERY COMFORTABLE IN OUR HOME. SHE CAN'T STAY OUT OF TROUBLE FOR A MINUTE, ALWAYS GETTING INTO THINGS. SHE GET'S ALONG WITH OUR LITTLE DOG JUST FINE, I DON'T KNOW WHO CHASES WHO MORE!! SHE LOVES TO SLEEP WITH ME AT NIGHT AND IF I'M WATCHING T.V. SHE'LL SLEEP ON MY LAP SOMETIMES. ONE BAD THING THOUGH IS THAT SHE'LL JUMP ON MY BACK WHEN I'M IN THE KITCHEN, SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME. I DON'T MIND, JUST HOPE SHE STAY'S OFF KATHLEEN'S. IT SEEM'S THAT SHE GETS ALL WOUND UP AT NIGHT, SO I'VE GOT TO PLAY WITH HER FOR A BIT BEFORE I CAN GO TO BED. SHE PLAYS EVERY WHERE IN THE HOUSE NOW, HAVE TO LOOK FOR HER SOMETIMES BECAUSE SHE'LL SLEEP ANYWHERE TOO... CLOSETS, UNDER BEDS, ON HER CAT TREE, UNDER COVERS, LAUNDRY ROOM, SOFA, ANYWHERE EVERYWHERE. I'M SO HAPPY WE ADOPTED YOUR KITTY -- WORDS CAN'T SAY ENOUGH. WILL WRITE MORE LATER. THANK YOU BOTH FOR ALLOWING US TO BE PART OF MALARKI'S LIFE - SINCERELY, GREG, KATHLEEN, MU-SHU, MALARKI, SPIKE (my veiled chameleon)."

Greg wrote us again recently, and inspired us to add this section of updates on our Retired Breeders!! "I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAVE UPDATES ON YOUR RETIRED CATS? IT REALLY WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO YOUR LIST OF OPTIONS ON YOUR WEB PAGE. THIS WOULD GIVE OTHER PEOPLE AN INSIGHT ON HOW THE CATS ARE DOING ONCE THEY LEAVE YOUR WONDERFUL HOME, AND IF THEY ADAPTED OK IN THEIR NEW ENVIRONMENT. MALARKI THE LOVER, IS GREAT. SHE LOVES ME SO MUCH AND I LOVE HER EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY. SHE LOVES WATCHING T.V. WITH ME, AND IF I PUT IT ON "THE ANIMAL PLANET", SHE STARES AS THOUGH SOME THING IS OUT THERE. AND IF SHE SEES SOMETHING SHE THINKS SHE CAN CATCH, SHE JUMPS DOWN FROM MY LAP AND TRIES TO GET IT OUT OF THE SCREEN. I HAVE A HARD TIME SLEEPING DUE TO MY ON-GOING BACK PROBLEMS, AND I AM GOING INTO SETON MEDICAL IN DALY CITY IN APRIL FOR TWO MORE BACK SURGERIES. I'M REALLY GOING TO MISS MY CAT!! SHE CROWDS ME SO MUCH AT NIGHT WHEN I'M SLEEPING THAT I CAN'T MOVE SOMETIMES -- BUT I LOVE HER SO MUCH THAT I DON'T MOVE SO I WON'T DISTURB HER. ANOTHER FUNNY THING ABOUT HER IS THAT IF SHE WANTS SOMETHING, LIKE FOR ME TO MOVE IN BED OR ON THE SOFA, SHE USES HER PAW AND TAPS ME ON MY ARM THEN GOES TO THE PLACE WHERE SHE WANTS ON, UNDER, OR IN!! ALSO, WHEN I'M SITTING ON THE SOFA, SHE ALWAYS JUMPS UP AND WALKS OVER BEHIND MY HEAD AND LETS ME KNOW SHE'S THERE BY TAPPING ME ON MY SHOULDER, AND THEN SHE COMES DOWN NEXT TO MY HEAD RUBBING AGAINST MY FACE AND ONTO MY CHEST AND INTO MY LAP. :)"
